Google Chrome...........new kid on the block.

Google has launched its very own browser software called Chrome. This brings another big player in a already tight competition of web browsers. Currently Mozilla FireFox and Microsoft Internet Explorer are the most widely used web browsers. Entry of Google makes it more interesting. Now all we have to see is how Google Chrome takes on these big boys.

I installed Chrome as soon as I was able to download it. My first impression about the browser is its very light weight. I mean remember the old FireFox in his early days. It starts quickly and has a fresh new interface. Though Tab browsing is already available in market, but the overall interface look fresh.

I use FireFox for 98% of my web browsing needs (sometimes I have to use IE for sites made in ASP.NET which wont work properly on FireFox). As soon as I started Chrome for the first time it prompted me to import FireFox settings. It imported my FireFox bookmarks, Saved Passwords etc. which I think is really nice as I have tons of bookmarks in my FireFox.

So here I am writing all good about Chrome. I will test it in coming days and let see how it works.

What If Gmail Had Been Designed by Microsoft?

Microsoft competitor on the web, Google's Gmail, a free email service has been popular since its launch. Gmail was one of the early adopters of AJAX and people got hooked with its clean, fast interface and unlimited space feature. But have you ever imagined what if Gmail had been designed by Microsoft. How would it be, how would it look and performed?

Philipp Lenssen tells you just about that. He compares both Google's Gmail and Microsoft (Imaginary) Gmail, with the screenshots. Take a look here.

Enjoy reading.

Easy Desk

Brought a laptop recently and was searching for a laptop pad or table which I can use while setting on bed or lying in bed. I found Thanko's Easy Desk Aluminum on the net. I ordered it online and about two weeks of waiting it finally got delivered to me. Thanko's Easy Desk Aluminum is a laptop table with variety of position adjustment which makes it ideal at many positions. Whether you are sitting upright, or siting on bed watching TV or sleeping on bed, you can adjust it to your position.

This is the best laptop utility I've seen. It makes your life easy and comfortable.

Blackle - Energy Saving Search

If you believe in global warming and green power, power saving interests you then this site is a good visit.

Its called Blackle - Energy Saving Search. Its nothing but a search engine based on Google, but all in black. Its said that displaying black color page requires much less energy than that’s required for displaying white page. So you save power.

It uses the Google search so performance wise there are no issues. As I personally don't contribute to any anti-global warming movements etc. this is a good way to contribute for the noble cause. But there is one problem. Even if I use Google for all my searching needs, I don’t visit their homepage, I search it from the search bar my browser firefox provides. So it by default takes me to the white version of Google. Going every time to Blackle homepage for search is not a good idea to me. so it will be better if browser makers and 3rd party toolbar makers include Blackle as one of the search engine option into their search bar. That will be more user friendly.

So get your hands on it and contribute to global power saving movement.

New Look and Feel

Hello visitor!!

HarishSave.com my personal website has been renewed with a new look and feel. For a very long time I was not able to keep my site updated, due to personal and professional reasons. Site has under gone many new changes. Some important changes are given below:

1. This new look and feel comes in different flavours (colors). On right top corner of your screen you'll find 'choose your flavour' section. You can click on any given flavours and the website color theme will change accordingly.

2. Blog section is introduced. I'll be posting here my latest online and offline findings. You can subscribe to the blog feed by the link given in the bottom of the page.

3. Gallery section is introduced. Here you'll see photos clicked by me. Current pictures are taken from my mobile cam so they are bit low quality. Image dimensions are kept at 1024 x 768 so that you can use them as desktop wallpapers.

4. Last but not least is that all of my previous shareware games are now made freeware. That means you'll get full version for free and you can distribute them for free.
Shopping section is still in old style. I'm still working on it and it will be soon launched in this new theme.

Your comments about the new website are welcomed. Please feel free to discuss it with me. Get in touch with me through the Contact form.

Thank you for your time. Enjoy surfing....
